The Upcoming Storm: February Edition

February was an upsetting month for gaming. DmC was talked about more for hairstyles than anything else and Aliens: Colonial Marines, after years of development, turned out to be a shameful waste of time and money. Hopefully Metal Gear Rising turns out to be a shining spot for the month, but we’re already looking ahead to next month’s releases in hopes of getting past this dark period in gaming this year. As the top three anticipated games here at Stay-At-Home Gaming are listed, we hope they won’t be as disappointing as two of the last three…

SimCity

New ways to destroy your city are also included

March 5th will bring Windows and OS X the next installation of the long running SimCity Series, oddly titled SimCity. All of the same city building fun will come back, but with more in-depth development options. Specialized cities based on specific industries or qualities (education, entertainment, etc.) will be able to be built, road quality affects the density of zone types they surround, and for the first time in the series, multiplayer allows friends to build cities on a linked landmass. The most ambitious game in the city building genre to date.

God of War: Ascension

Believe it or not, this is multiplayer

A prequel to the original God of War, Ascension tells the early story of Kratos’ first attempts to break his service to Ares, who at the time of this game had recently tricked him into killing his family. In addition to the modern standard in action games getting a story update, this too will add new multiplayer for the first time. An interesting mechanic has been added where you sell your avatar’s soul to one of four deities, each granting unique bonuses and combat styles. And unlike the other offshoots in the series, this one premieres on the PS3! Look for it on March 12th.

Gears of War: Judgment

Lastly comes one of the most anticipated 360 games of the year, the new Gears of War title. Judgment will bring us closer to Emergence Day with Damon Baird and Augustus Cole as the main characters. This one kind of speaks for itself in terms of quality, though we are curious whether these characters can carry an entire game without the benefit of Marcus and Dom. And of the three games featured, this one doesn’t introduce multiplayer for the first time, but promises to add on the greatness of Gears 3. We’ll see if it can on March 19th!

Any games deserve mention on a list like this for the month of March? Add them to the comment section below!

Like the new layout. Never been a big Gears of War or God of War fan. Simcity was awesome back in the day on PC but i will not spend $60 on it. Again nice new layout.

This SimCity adds a lot to the mix. I always wanted to make a city that focused on a specific theme. And although I wasn’t the strongest Tomb Raider fan, this one looks to be incredible.
Thanks about the new layout! Took about ten hours to find the one that fit best and modify the rest of the site!

    Tomb Raider looks quite promising.
