Video Game News, Reviews and Reflection! New Articles Released Randomly Every Week!

Week in Review: 1/18/14

Welcome to our first Week in Review, the best three articles we’ve read this week! Expand your inner geek today!

With so many sites and blogs to see, we’re happy you choose us for at least a part of your video game love. Even though most of our free time is spent writing up new content, we love a lot of the content we see around, whether it’s inspiring, enlightening or just gives us a hell of a laugh. As a site, we love when people share our stories, so it’s about time we started to do the same, sharing the best reads we’ve had every week.

If you like what you see, be sure to leave a comment on the page, follow for future articles, like their Facebook pages, keep up with their Twitter, basically share the love. And tell them we sent you! They may send us cookies. And we LOVE cookies. The pictures serve as links to the main site, with the featured article link at the bottom of the section.

And comment on THIS site to let us know if you like this and want to see more! Here we go…

Hope for Alien

1001-UP.com

One of the biggest disappointments of last year was the merciless butchering of the Aliens with Sega’s release of the horribly underwhelming Colonial Marines. When I read 1001-Up’s article (and linked video for the new Alien Isolation, my heart grew three sizes too big. What’s not to love about bringing back the survival horror and stealth from the original movie to shake up the omnipresent FPS the series has overdone? The full article even has mention of the main character, a long lost relative of the movie series’ protagonist…

Intelligent Criticism

Feminine Miss GeekI tend to gravitate more towards female writers when it comes to video gaming. They tend to have an amazing perspective I tend not to think about, let alone hear from my local, real life community of gamer friends, which also happen to be guys. The interwebs have led me to a number of fantastic sites with articles written by intelligent women, and most of the better articles I’ve read haven’t been written by men.

This article, on the difference between complaints, criticisms and constructive dialogue, was an amazing read and something most video game writers should check out. Intelligence required for this one folks.

True Geek Culture

The Credible Hulk

If you’re reading this site, chances are you’re a geek or a nerd (words that carry a positive connotation here). And though video games are a big staple of those communities, they hardly cover the entire spectrum. We write about video games, but still love comics, movies, anime, and non-reality television, especially when the worlds blend together.

Frequent readers may notice we have a new sidebar on our page featuring this site, and for good reason. The Credible Hulk, who has been around as long as we have, is an incredible site that covers all aspects of the culture. Plus, from Monday to Saturday there’s always great new content.

We highly suggest you start your love affair with this site on this article, the Top 5 Time Machines and tell me you don’t totally agree with it. Note, this is a Tardus- and DeLorean-free list, which means it’s a lot more fair to the rest of them!

So go forth and see what you think! Let us know if you enjoyed this feature, the articles or just us in general!
