Video Game News, Reviews and Reflection! New Articles Released Randomly Every Week!

Week in Review: 2/1/14

Another Week in Review! I’m starting to like this format.

Well, turns out we have another audit to deal with at work, so writing has again suffered. But all’s well and this SHOULD be the last one!

I’ve just started playing Beyond Good and Evil, a title Muse Shake of XXP suggested I get into thanks to a timely sale! Actually a fantastic title this far, though way too fast an introduction. Look for the review soonish!

As for the wonderful articles I’ve read this week, you’re gonna get four of them! Yep, that good a week for reading!

Music to My Ears

Sound is generally one of those departments that is at once the most subtle and most powerful conveyances of feeling in a game, and it really deserve more attention than it usually gets. Fortunately, Video Game Debate has picked up on it’s importance. Although I do miss Earthbound on this list, I sincerely agree with every choice on the list.

Old Bad Guys Never Die

M Bison

Comedy is the key to a happy life. Or so I was told at some point. But the first kind of articles I gravitate toward are the ones that have potential to embarrass me on a bus full of people. This one didn’t fail. 1001-Up won big on this one, about M. Bison retiring. The part about Blanka and Bison heading to the hospital was a gut buster.

A One, A Two, A One, Two, Three, Four…

This one jumps away from video games, but it’s totally necessary. Musical episodes of television shows are freaking hysterical and The Credible Hulk knows it. This Top Five is absolutely perfect, with the best number one, the best choices and one I wasn’t expecting. It filled me with glee (which is happily not on the list. Every episode is a musical episode, and the “only one entry per person” rule matters.

Bonus Article!

Gone Home

For these lists, I like to put up articles from sites I’ve found through the WordPress/Twitter/Facebook/Twitter/Blogging community to spread the love. Dorkly was one of the sites that got me interested in comedy writing (my poor imitation, anyway). This article takes an amazing game and makes fun of both the game and gamers, which is flat-out amazing and unoffensive to both.
