Video Game News, Reviews and Reflection! New Articles Released Randomly Every Week!

Week in Review: 5/31/14

A revitalized SAH Gaming is set for a great Week in Review!

Memorial Day and a girlfriend returning from school make for a very slow writing week, but alas! Back into the routine. This month the goal is at least three articles a week and I’m gonna make it happen!

As for the rest of the internet, here were our favorite articles this week!

Love on the Battlefield

Battlefield 4 was amazing when the server worked. Great teamwork mechanics, massive maps and a sniper class that didn’t destroy everything unless you took the time to master bullet drop. Now comes the announcement for Hardline, a new version featuring SWAT vs bank robbers. We’re hoping for a focus on life preservation tactics and maybe some non-lethal special weapons, but we will wait for the full game. Get you announcement news on GeekSleepRinseRepeat.

Writing NPCs

Face it: whether you love or hate it, Dungeons and Dragons is influential. Chris Hardwick, Vin Diesel, Mike Myers, Wil Wheaton, and Robin Williams are all players, designers and writers of games learn great lessons from it, hell, RPGs might not exist as a video game genre without it. Whether you want to learn how to play, are making games yourself or just want to create good stories, this series on Geek Out SW is fantastic.

A Developing Inquisition

If you aren’t excited about this, you’re either insane, haven’t played the series or the bad taste of “II” is still in your mouth (valid for some of you). But every bit of news is exciting as hell for us. The newest bit? Therinfal Redoubt, a former Chantry training ground. I still wonder if I’m going to go Chantry or Mages for this one but it seems either way will be great!

The Best of the Best

When it comes to the best retro consoles, the venerable SNES deserves at least a top three spot. The best RPGs, the best first party titles Nintendo has ever made, the best controller, the best everything. The Credible Hulk made a list of the Top Five games on the console and, the fanboy in me aside, these are decidedly the ones everyone should own for it.

Battlefield Hardline is going to make the child in me very happy… How much fun was it to play cops and robbers when you were a kid?
    I’m mostly looking forward to E3… 🙂

Cops and Robbers was a staple of my childhood, as was SWAT 2 on PC. If Hardline manages to capture a tiny bit of the joys of both, I’m going to love it!
