Super Smash Bros Sets Wii U Record

SSBWU

This holiday season will probably become known as one of records being broken left and right.

Nintendo has announced that its newest release from its flagship Super Smash Bros. series has become the fastest selling game on the Wii U since its release, with a whopping 490,000 copies being sold in three days. This number wipes out the previous record, held by Mario Kart 8

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U can add that to a vast number of overwhelmingly positive reviews, a Nintendo pre-order record, and a successful launch of the 3DS version as well.

While Nintendo of America should be very happy with that number, it’s about to be much happier. The holiday season, from Black Friday to New Years, tends to push those numbers much higher as games are given as gifts and new console owners pick up new games within the week they receive the system.

Did you expect the numbers to be this high? How much do you think they’ll jump by 2015? Let us know in the comments section below!

That’s an impressive figure to be sure! But with this being said, the Wii U was bound to take off once the “usual games” came out, such as Smash Bros. I find it no wonder it got as high as it did – but it’s truly well deserved 🙂

    Great article!
