Video Game News, Reviews and Reflection! New Articles Released Randomly Every Week!
It’s time for the first Week in Review of 2015!
It’s been a while since we’ve caught up. Sit down. Have a coffee!
I believe that it’s time to bring this feature back, now that the workplace has calmed down a bit (audit season can be a trying process). We’re working hard to get out some fun stuff to read this year, and this is where it all starts.
So, without further delay, here are the first four articles we loved from this year!
A Different Batman vs. Superman
When it comes to DC Comics, you’re generally on one of three sides: Batman, Superman or someone else (I’m personally on Sandman’s side). Every conversation I’ve had with DC fans has come down to which of the first two you enjoyed more, and the upcoming Batman vs. Superman Movie is going to reignite that powder keg.
Poor Mans Geek is taking a different approach to the conversation by reviewing all the previous movies in both series. While I anticipate an easy win for Batman, despite two very much despised entries that had Jim Carrey and Arnold Schwarzenegger, they seem to be giving a very fair, very even review for each film, starting with this review of Tim Burton’s Batman!
A Post-Mortem of the Year 2014
I think most gamers would agree that 2014 was fairly uneventful in the world of gaming. A lack of strong current-gen content, a slow progression from the last generation and a never-ending barrage of sequels to aging IPs pretty much highlighted the year, but there were some bright spots in indie gaming and the occasional great game.
Properob from Played Out started the 2014 Post-Mortem series and made me remember those bright spots; Killer Instinct’s return, New Super Mario Bros U, Octodad: Deadliest Catch and the Definitive Edition of Tomb Raider were wonderful memories, and that was just in January. I intend on finishing the series, but if you’re gonna start somewhere, may as well start at the beginning.
Fallout 4 Top Eight
If you’ve played Fallout 3 or New Vegas and loved it, chances are you’re looking forward to the next installment of the series. And, if you find yourself looking back on the game, I’m sure you can think of some things to improve along the way. Personally I’d have a more stable, less buggy game be at the top of my list, but since I enjoyed the hell out of those games despite the numerous issues, I’d probably be happy with a few new companions.
Tuskoff of Gamer Titan, however, went even further and compiled a pretty solid list of improvements that should be made to the next entry of the series, and I honestly like every idea there. I’m pretty sure you will too.
Although I consider myself a fan of comics, being born past the Golden Age and Silver Age has made it difficult to find the time to catch up on everything there is to see from that world. There are compilations of every sort coming out, but to have firsthand knowledge of the collected works of Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Avengers, the Punisher, the Fantastic Four…you get the picture.
There are a few series I have read, and Marvel’s Runaways is one of them. The Credible Hulk, bless his heart, has written about them and I love him more than I ever have now.
