Video Game News, Reviews and Reflection! New Articles Released Randomly Every Week!
Konami Corporation, publisher of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, posted a forty-eight hour clock to their MGS V website yesterday, with no indication of what the end of the countdown will bring. Safe bet is a major announcement regarding the game. Speculation seems to lean towards the countdown being for the announcement of a release date, which has yet to be disclosed, or perhaps a new story trailer. Hopefully it’s both.
Metal Gear Solid 5 is considered one of the most anticipated games of 2015. A continuation of the Ground Zeroes, which released on March 18, 2014, this game will see Venom Snake, A.K.A. Big Boss, waking from his coma following the destruction of Militaires Sans Frontieres. The game has some people upset with the replacement of veteran voice actor David Hayter with Keifer Sutherland in the role of Snake, but the trailers and multiplayer announcement have plenty of people interested in the upcoming continuation of the MGS saga.
We’ll have the contents of the announcement in 19 hours from this posting (7am Eastern), when the timer is set to expire. Until then, speculation is our only friend.
UPDATE: Konami’s announcement was indeed the release date of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain! Console gamers on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360 and PS3 will be able to purchase MGSV on September 1st of this year, while PC Gamers will have access through Steam starting September 15th.
