New Five Nights at Freddy’s to Be the Finale

FreddyYep, it’s coming to an end.

Five Nights at Freddy’s will be releasing its fourth installment this year, and probably its last. The new game, which features the subtitle “The Final Chapter,” has released a new trailer and followers of the series will be surprised by its setting; instead of a Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza location, the new title seems to taking place inside a private residence, with three tiny bears, Freddy, Foxy and Bonnie making appearances.

In another surprise, the previous launch date of Halloween 2015 has been pushed ahead to August 8th, coinciding with the one year anniversary of the series. There will, however, be an added bonus on Halloween in the form of an update with extra content, as yet undescribed.

Developed by Scott Cawthon, the small indie Five Nights at Freddy’s became a phenomenon, featuring jump scares and an emphasis on defense rather than combat. Two sequels have been released in the following year, and the game has inspired multiple theories on the cryptic storyline and a slew of reaction videos on YouTube. A film adaptation is also in development with Warner Bros., and thankfully Uwe Boll has not been contacted to take part in it.

I can’t believe a fifth installment of a series will be released to coincide with the originals 1 year anniversary?! I bet Ubisoft wish they could churn out games just as quickly?
